It seems spring is finally here! Not only does that mean warmer weather, it also means we are winding down our school year! We have about a month and a half left of fifth grade, and then your children will be off to middle school! We have a lot going on in these next weeks though. We have testing, field trips, guest speakers, projects, and concerts coming up!
Math: We are starting fraction division this week!
ELA/Writing: We are focusing on finding text evidence in our fiction and nonfiction reading, and the students are going to be starting to write a narrative this week. They'll also be reading about recycling and creating an opinion paper about it.
Science: Robots! Robots! Robots! The students love PLTW!
Social Studies: We are studying the American Revolution, and soon students are going to be doing some in-depth learning about a key player in the revolution.
Testing Schedule: We will be taking the NWEA tests this week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (makeups will be next week). We will be taking the SBAC during the week of April 30-May 4. Please make sure your child is getting a good sleep and a good breakfast, especially on testing days. Testing will be done mainly in the morning.
