ABSOLUTELY
12/12/2017 0 Comments Week of December 11-15I hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of their December. I'm sure everyone is looking forward to a much deserved winter break. We have two weeks before break, and in the couple of weeks, we are doing some awesome learning here in fifth grade at Arrowhead!
For everyone with a band or orchestra student, don't forget that their concert is this week on Thursday at 2:30! I can't wait to hear how they sound! Math: We just finished our chapter on addition and subtraction with decimals, so we are moving on to multiplication with decimals. This is a new concept for most fifth graders, but many students are already figuring out how everything works! ELA: This week, we are starting a new unit. For the next several weeks, we are going to be reading fiction and nonfiction that relates to different experiences leading to new discoveries. This week, we are looking at literature that teaches us a bit about different cultures. The students are also writing a narrative about a "dream vacation." These are lots of fun to read--check out your child's narrative progress in our Google Classroom. Science: More Project Lead the Way with Mrs. Eagle! The students are coding to create a dinosaur ecosystem simulation! Social Studies: Each student is well on his/her way to becoming an expert about one early European explorer! The students already did some research, and now they are working on a poster to present to the class on Friday. Most students will finish with the amount of time given to work in class this week. If your student isn't finished by Thursday, you might see a poster come home to finish up. :-)
