ABSOLUTELY
11/13/2017 0 Comments Week of November 13-17Hello from Arrowhead! We are plugging right along here, still learning every day in many ways! It's almost time for Thanksgiving break too. Don't forget: we only have school Monday and Tuesday of next week. If your child is going to be gone for either of these days, please let me know so I can arrange for make-up work.
What are we learning? Math: We are working on decimal place value and comparing, ordering, and rounding decimals to the thousandths place. ELA: We are reading biographies and looking at investigating nature. We just finished our MT Tribal Nations expository papers and we are working on writing narratives. Social Studies: We are starting our European Explorers unit of study. We will be looking at the reasons why Europeans were exploring the Americas during the 1400s-1800s, and we will be learning general information about 17 explorers. Science: Students are working on coding with Mrs. Seab and Mrs. Eagle. 11/5/2017 0 Comments Week of November 6-10Happy November!
First, I'd like to say that I really enjoyed visiting with everyone at conferences. That 15 minutes never seems like enough time, but I hope you feel like it was valuable. I certainly did! Snow, snow, snow!! Yes, the weather certainly has changed over the last week. Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate winter clothing, including boots, hats and gloves. Unless the weather is deemed unsafe, we will continue to be outside for morning walk and recess. Don't forget to have your child bring shoes to wear inside too! What's Happening This Week? Math: We are finishing up our work on multiplication and division this week, and we will start looking at decimal place value later on in the week. Keep working on those math facts at home--your child should practice 10 minutes per day. ELA: This week we are reading from the fantasy genre and looking at what we can do to get information. Ask your child about the "Modern Cinderella" story we are reading. It's certainly more relatable to their generation! Students are also writing a personal narrative. Social Studies: This is the last week we will work on our MT Tribal Nations. Students are typing up their papers, and we will be editing, revising and publishing our papers. Science: Students continue to work on "Infection Detection" for PLTW with Mrs. Eagle and Mrs. Seab. |
